Basic Training -
One…two…three…four. A…B…C…D. Red…green…yellow…blue. Life trains us, ready or not.
Correction: Sandy
just told me that green is not a basic color, it’s a secondary color
in case you didn’t know. Life trains us
ready or not.
Today I planned to present Accounting 101 to members of the
WOYG (youth) in a half-hour. Lucky for them,
that half-hour never materialized. They
had better watch out on Friday though.
Instead, we started the day with Sandy spending a couple of
hours training and observing our two play school teachers while I read the newspaper and took a nap
Then, just before noon, we had a brief meeting with the Watafutaji officers and committee chairs
and fed everybody around
with sausages, peanut butter sandwiches, and soda. The next two hours zipped by as we sat back
and observed Eric Lijodi begin training five youths from the WOYG on the
installation, care, maintenance, and workings of Friendly Water for the World
BioSand water filters.
We avoided the usual matatu ride to Kakamega by hitching a ride back to the hotel with Eric, thus also avoiding Accounting 101. We celebrated a short restful day with “Olympic” onion rings.
